This one is for DS. He loves yellow and picked the color. It's on the list for all the kids we know right now. Which means I have 8 or 9 to knit up in the next 4 weeks. In about 4 different colors.

This is Lion Brand wool (1st time I've used it and I love how it felts!) with 2 (instead of 1 like the pattern calls for) strands of Lion Brand Fun Fur. The plate he is sitting on is an 8 inch dinner plate. Just to give you an idea of size. Nice pattern, fun to knit. That HURT!

We were going to go to Texarkana(about 2 1/2 hours away) yesterday to see one of my Aunts and my Mom and Dad. Woke up about 5 in the morning with a little pain in my left side. At just kept getting worst and worst, until about 7 when we get ready to go to see family. About 7:30-8, I give up and told DH he needed to take me to the hopital (In his defense, DH had been offering to take me since he woke up). I have a high tolerance for pain so if I say I need to go ...Then I need to go!

Get to the hospital and only had to wait for 45 minutes of intense pain before they took me back. Gave me an IV and something for pain. Talked to me for a bit and they said it could be kidney stones or an ovarian cysts. So they sent me for a CT scan and then for an ultrasound. I was so out of it the whole time. And they wouldn't let me drink anything because they were afraid they might have to take me to suregy. So after being in there for about 4 hours (and DH wouldn't go get my knitting ...Bad DH! Not that I could of done any after the first pain meds but that wasn't the point! )

They told me I have an ovarian cysts. It's about 2 1/2 centimeters big but I didn't need suregy, if it was twice as big or if it gets larger I will need it. So I have some pain meds and some antibiotics. OMG! It hurt! I will gladly go thru 20 migrains that I get before going thru THAT again! If any of ya'll go thru that a lot....I'm sorry!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ltfightr.blogspot.com/2006/11/omg-that-hurt.html' title='OMG! Most, ok a lot, has to do with DS. He has had his feet looked at. He is pigeon toed (yeah, thanks. Didn't know that.*sigh*). Nothing we can do about it. Just keep doing feet exercises and work on strengthen those muscles.

On the plus side, it was once again time for his yearly Developmental Evaluation. When we first begin therapies, he was 18-12 months behind in all areas. Now at 5 years old, with over 2 years of therapies, he is 8-5 months behind!!!! WOOHOO!!! His Motor skills still need a lot of work (still a year behind in them) but we are working on those hard and heavy. But in Cognition (how much you understand), he is only 5 months delayed! WOW! I am feeling so good about this. That means, when he starts Kindgarden next year he will be at the same level as most of the kids in his class (Thank goodness for Fall birthdays!) WooHOO!!!!!

We have some plans on the motor skills, he is playing baseball next year and we are signing him up for golf lessons. He got a golf set for his birthday and he LOVES going to "smack the snot out of the ball". (Good going, Momma on teaching him that phrase LOL) So we found a place here in town called The First Tee (www.thefirsttee.org). They are a golf course just for kids. They have lessons and tournaments, plus lots of other stuff. Can't wait. We told him that we were going to look into it and if he would like to take lessons to learn to "smack" the ball right and he really liked the idea. So wish us luck on Saturday when he takes his first lesson (other plus is with a $35 a year membership you get free group lessons). Here is a couple of pictures of the next great golf player: Please ignore the "demon"look in the first picture. He is a wonderful kid.

Only 2 more days to go.......

In 2 days, DS will finally see the pediatric orthopedic specialist. Hopefully, the end is in sight. I'm a little annoyed about it because he will be see the Nurse Practitioner and not the Doctor. He sees her first and she decides if he needs to see him! Don't get me started on THAT! I'm sorry but if I'm paying to see the SPECIALIST, I want to see THE SPECIALIST! We know he needs some leg braces (been in them before, has been working with a PT so got out of them but she thinks he needs a little something. And we agree.) but we need/want a better idea what kind to get. And if the work he is doing with his PT is enough or do they need some different exercises. Just little things like that.

In my second vent for the day.....My car is STILL in the shop! For the SAME PROBLEM! FOR THE 5 TIME WITH THE SAME TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been a month. I know the guy is doing what he can and he can only do what the car tech people tell him to do but they have been telling him the same thing for a month! COME ON, PEOPLE! I'm not mad at him, really. I know that sounds strange but it's true. I've heard him talking the repair guy in the background so I know he is telling me everything that is going on. I called the car company to get them to get on the ball. Maybe, hopefully, I'll have my car back in time for my trip Friday! (not counting on it, thou. I know I should of posted something a couple of days ago but I've just been so tired. We've gotten back into the swing of things at school (I work in the lunch room) but a couple of weeks, one of the cooks fell off the bus she drives and hurt herself pretty bad! She is going to be gone for at least another 2-6 weeks. Then one of the other girls were gone so another sub had to come. It's tough when you have a close group who works very well together and one (or more) is/are gone. I told the sub the other day that she was starting to fit so well we were going to keep her!

Everyone at work was very worried at the beginning of the week because it looked like the school district was going to turn the food service over to private contract. Right now, we all work for the school, with retirement and insurance. Big Boss went to a meeting day before yesterday with the PTB and it looks like we are staying the way we are! WOOHOO! Big relief! So that is most of the stuff on this end of the world. More to come.........

A True WIP

Here it is! My Eris! Well, Ok, most of my Eris. I still have to put the sleeves in but everything eles is done. Notice no sleeves.

And close ups of the cabling around the top.

In case you are wondering , yes the stitches look a bit wierd, when I first learned to knit I was purling with the yarn under the needle instead of over. So it twisted all the stitches. (I'm calling it artist difference! LOL)

And here is the back and close ups of the bottom cables. Belive it or not, this was the first time I have ever done cables! I mean, I made a pair of handwarmers for DH with just a 2x2 left twist but this was increasing, decreasing, right over left, left over right, you name it....it was in there.

I'm a little mad thou. I know he will be and we do the best we can. We are trying to get a little healthier. So anyway, I was just letting you guys know about this. I'll post tomorrow and let everyone know how it goes.

DS's test are done!

And he is FINE!!! Well, he doesn't have CP at least and that was the main thing. The Dr tested his reflexes for quite a bit (long enough for us to start wondering) and then he ran up and down the hallway for a bit. She said that while he did have some signs of CP the biggest indicator (drawing his arm up when not thinking about it and spazdite reflexes) weren't there. So she would guess that the feet issues are more of an ortho problem than CP. Woohoo! SO now we are off to the ped ortho doctor. Which we have an appointment for but it will be about 2 months. I tried to get in sooner because we need to order some inserts or AFOs (braces) and they need to tell us which kind to get. Already have the Rx for them just waiting to get the ducks in the row.

Mystery Sock Knit A-long!

The main reason I started this was so I would have a place to post updates on the 2nd KAL I've joined. It's called the Mystery Sock KAL. What you do is find a sock pattern on the web with no picture of the finished sock. Then using you chose of yarn, you knit it. I choose KnitList Get-Together Cable Sock. I'm using Caron Simply Soft in Country Blue. Yes, it's an Acrylic but I'm going to just use it as a slipper sock. I'm going to be using Addis #3 DPNs for the cuff and then change to Boye #5 Circulars for the rest. I started tonight and I think I should make good time. We have until Nov. To finish so I might be able to do it. Wish me luck. I'll have pictures in a couple of days when I have more than 2 rows on the needles! He is 4 1/2 years olds. He is also developmental delayed. DS is about 9-12 months behind in most areas. Which is a huge step up from when he started therapies he was 18-18 months behind in most areas. Biggest trouble area is Speech. He was largely non-vocal until he turned 3. He did point and make sounds but that was about it. Very, very smart. DS has been going to a pre-school for Special Needs kids for a little over 2 years. Next year he will move in the pre-kindergarten class with the others. When he first started he was wearing AFOs (braces on his legs) but then he started Physical therapy and got to the point wear he didn't need them. But his PT told us the other day that she wanted to put him back in shoe inserts. It's been a year so that has been a little hard. They also noticed that his Fine Motor skills has dropped a bit. So now we will add that into the mix of therapies. That is hard also. Next week, we will start testing to make sure there are no "serious" problems before he starts kindergarten next school year.

Wish us luck that there is nothing wrong.

A little more about me.

Who is Ltfightr? My name I go by in most BB is Ltfightr(Light Fighter). Back in the day, I was in the SCA as a Rapier Fighter (called at the time "Light" fighting). The SCA is The Society for Creative Anachronism (www.SCA.org). My name is Lady Diana of Graywood, AoA. I lived in the Kingdom of Ansteorra (Texas). I meet DH ( I already knew him) because I was in charge of food at an event. He was a restaurant manager who was trying to get me to go out with him. We had meet about a month earlier and we were beginning to be friends but after he donated most of the food that more or less hooked me! LOL And it didn't help that the jerky current boyfriend was being jerky (ok an A$$ really) and that was the straw on the camels back. So we broke up and about a month later got together with DH and it has been 10 wonderful years!

First time for everything!

Well, here I am.
